A day of racing, fun and community spirit at the Annual Flower Hotels Cup
The Flower Hotels Cup took center stage at the Port Macquarie Race Club last week, delivering an unforgettable day of fun, connection, and community spirit. With the sun shining brightly over the newly renovated track, the event unfolded against a picturesque backdrop of the Wauchope Hinterland, clear blue skies, and warm spring weather—a perfect setting for a day of racing and celebration.
A Day of Fun, Racing, and Connection
The Flower Hotels Cup is about more than just the races—it’s an opportunity to celebrate our valued sponsors, supporters, and staff. This annual event brings together our venues from across the region, allowing everyone to build relationships, unwind, and enjoy a day together. Guests embraced the festive spirit, joining in on sweeps and a lively punter’s club, adding an extra element of fun to the day’s betting activities.
Exciting Races and a Memorable Main Event
The event featured a total of seven races, with the first race kicking off just after lunch. The highlight of the day was the much-anticipated Flower Hotels Cup, where the crowd cheered as 5-year-old ‘Prancing with Fire’ claimed victory in a close and captivating finish. The atmosphere was relaxed and laid back as guests gathered in the Clydesdale Room, with many spilling out onto the undercover verandah, outdoor marquee, and grassy areas—enjoying the perfect vantage points and soaking up the sunshine.
Spring Vibes and a Festive Atmosphere
Beautiful floral arrangements by The Botanic Merchants filled the venue with vibrant colors, adding a refreshing touch of spring. DJ Broox kept the vibe upbeat with popular tunes between races, while the sounds of the race caller and the rhythmic beat of galloping horses added to the lively atmosphere.
Guests indulged in a tasty array of finger foods, thanks to our partners at Char Bar, ensuring everyone had plenty to enjoy throughout the afternoon. The bar, stocked by CUB and managed by Flower Hotels, kept the drinks flowing, making sure no glass was left empty.
Celebrating Style and Community
In classic race-day fashion, best-dressed awards were handed out, with bottles of De Bortoli Rosé Rosé presented to ladies and gentlemen who impressed with their stylish attire. It was a joyful day filled with laughter, smiles, and plenty of catching up, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
Director Alistair Flower took a moment to thank the crowd, expressing appreciation for everyone who contributed to the event’s success and highlighting the importance of community and connection, which remain at the heart of Flower Hotels. His heartfelt message underscored the shared values that make the Flower Hotels Cup a truly special occasion.
A Heartfelt Thanks and a Look Ahead
We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all our sponsors, suppliers, special guests, and staff who made this day possible. Special thanks go to the Port Macquarie Race Club organizers, Dan and Nardi, for their seamless coordination and warm hospitality. It was a day full of smiles and celebration, and we’re already excited about making the 2025 Flower Hotels Cup even bigger and better.
