Zoe’s Dance for Cancer

You'll find her behind the bar at Setts, navigating the hustle and bustle of the busy venue. Though she's exceptional at her job, her own tale of resilience and courage often goes unnoticed, making her a quiet yet remarkable presence among us.

Zoe Archer, our Settlers Inn Hotel Venue Manager, isn't just overseeing the flow of drinks and laughter; she's igniting hope. This year, she's embraced the Stars of the Hastings challenge, setting her sights on a bold $20,000 fundraising target for cancer research. But Zoe's effort isn't just about raising funds; it's a powerful reminder of the strength we carry within us, no matter what challenges we face.

In 2017, Zoe's life took a sharp turn when she was diagnosed with ovarian and cervical cancer. Despite the challenge, she didn't let it define her. Today, she's not just a survivor; she's a busy mum to her energetic three-year-old, Archie.

"I'm all in for Stars of Hastings because I love a challenge," Zoe. "But what really drives me is supporting our community and causes that matter. Sure, I'm not a natural born dancer but I'm ready to give it my best shot on the dance floor and make a difference for the Cancer Council."

Zoe has two significant charitable events in the pipeline. This Friday May 17th, is the Karma Keg event — a community-driven effort across Settlers Inn, TPT, Lake Cathie Tavern, Fernhill Tavern, Beechwood Hotel, Hastings Hotel and Long Flat Pub. Starting at 5pm, purchases of XXXX Gold and Tooheys New contribute to the fight against cancer, with patrons encouraged to donate at their discretion. Raffles and a sausage sizzle add to the fun!

Then, on Saturday June 8th, Settlers Inn is hosting the 300 Club draw. Three hundred tickets, each a vital part of the support network, offer the chance for one lucky winner to claim the $10,000 prize. With live music from Kyle Moore and DJ Jimmy Laing, alongside entertaining raffles, and auctions, it will be an evening filled with community spirit whilst adding to Zoe’s fundraising target.

Alistair Flower expresses, "We are truly honoured to have such an exceptional woman at the helm of our team here at Setts. We're immensely proud of her determination and we are committed to supporting her every step of the way in achieving her goal. For those unable to attend these fantastic events, I know Zoe would deeply appreciate any auction items and raffle prizes you can generously contribute."

In our local dance against cancer, let's raise our glasses, dig deep and rally behind Zoe to help her exceed her goal.
